PKI Solutions Debuts New Version of PKI Spotlight® for At-A-Glance Real-Time Monitoring/Alerts of Microsoft, Non-Microsoft, and Hardware Security Module Environments
PKI Spotlight Continuously Monitors Status of Organizational Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Hardware Security Module (HSM) Configurations to Ensure Realtime Security Best Practices
PORTLAND, OR –– February27, 2024 –– PKI Solutions — a Public Key Infrastructure technology leader with practices covering PKI Design/Redesign and Implementation, PKI assessments, training, and support services – today introduced a new version of PKI Spotlight®, a real-time monitoring and alerting system that provides live status, availability, configuration, and security of PKI environments (Microsoft PKI and others) and hardware security modules (HSMs). The latest release of PKI Spotlight has increased its award winning “Best Practices” alerting to more than 115. These Best Practice alerts are designed to aid organizations with operational resiliency, security posture management, threat detection, and refined PKI operational and configuration best practices.
Unfortunately for most organizations, their PKI was installed and then almost forgotten. In reality, a healthy PKI (like most security systems) needs constant review. PKI Spotlight maintains the security and integrity of PKIs with visibility into configurations that can impact identity and encryption systems in a manner that reduces an organization’s risk for business continuity and security threats.
“The distributed nature of PKI creates operational challenges that aren’t addressed by certificate lifecycle management or existing generic system monitoring products,” said Mark B. Cooper, President, PKI Solutions. “PKI Spotlight allows users to easily and effectively manage their PKI and HSM environments to keep them available, functional, and most importantly: Secure at all times. Real-time alerts spot problems in an instant so teams can resolve issues or threats before they become a problem.”
Cooper added, “PKI is the foundation for secure communication and authentication in the digital world. Managing digital certificates, keys, and trust relationships effectively is crucial to maintaining a robust PKI infrastructure. Without this important trust relationship, a hacker can masquerade as a legitimate company resource and only after-the-fact will a company know it’s been compromised. PKI Spotlight’s new best practice alerts further enhance the platform’s ability to identify and rectify potential security weaknesses proactively.”
The benefits of best practice alerts in PKI Spotlight’s latest release include:
- Heightened Security Preparedness: Administrators gain enhanced ability to identify and rectify potential security weaknesses in real-time. These alerts cover areas from cryptographic algorithm compliance, trust chain validation, security configuration settings, and emerging threats. Addressing these alerts quickly helps organizations bolster their security preparedness and reduce the risk of threats.
- Enhanced Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Compliance with industry regulations and standards is critical for PKIs to enable organizations to strengthen their compliance posture. These alerts offer insights into compliance violations and highlight areas that require immediate attention and improvement. This helps organizations adhere to industry and company standards, safeguard sensitive data and meet regulatory compliance.
- Streamlined PKI Management Efficiency: Streamlined PKI management helps administrators prioritize their efforts based on the criticality of each alert for better resource allocation and efficient operations, which reduces administration tasks.
- Continuous Learning and Knowledge Enrichment: Continuous learning and knowledge enrichment among PKI administrators and security teams through regular alerts and implementing recommended practices fosters a culture of security awareness. Administrators gain valuable insights into emerging threats, industry best practices, and evolving compliance requirements. This empowers them to make informed decisions, proactively address vulnerabilities, and stay ahead of potential security risks.
- Removing the Unintended Consequences Risk: All too often, people who manage a PKI will perform a simple change which can have a cascading effect throughout the PKI. PKI Spotlight will send an alert that this change is in violation of a Best Practice and allow the company to make the correction quickly.

SeeMetrics Launches Cybersecurity Governance Boards
SeeMetrics launches a dedicated set of cybersecurity performance boards to allow CISOs to govern more effectively
Tel Aviv, February 21, 2024 — SeeMetrics, the pioneering Cybersecurity Performance Management (CPM) platform reshaping how security leaders measure, track, and improve security performance, launches its latest development: Governance Boards. This product feature launch comes in anticipation of the NIST CSF 2.0 framework expansion, which introduces the new Govern function.
The new NIST Govern function is aimed at monitoring organizations’ cybersecurity risk management strategy, expectations, and policy. The six categories listed under Govern correlate with SeeMetrics’ approach to Cybersecurity Performance Management (CPM), focused on granting a panoramic oversight to the CISO and CISO’s team. With these boards, which are out-of-the-box (OOTB) collections of ready-to-use metrics, security leaders will manage their policies, processes, and KPIs driven by organizational context and a clear connection between risk and business strategy.
The Governance Boards will initially be comprised of three boards needed in order to govern effectively, with each board providing a different point of view on policies:
- CISO Lay of the Land Board – The primary purpose of this board is to provide security decision-makers with a rapid and intuitive understanding of overall system performance, enabling informed and timely responses to safeguard the organization. It’s a dashboard that shows CISOs the current state of security operations at a glance, backed by a comprehensive analysis of the entire operations. It collects the relevant data and metrics from different boards representing various security programs, offering a visual representation of what really matters. Serving as a snapshot of the organization’s security landscape for the CISO to look at every morning, this board offers a high-level view, tracking and analyzing trends against key performance indicators (KPIs).
- CISO Policy Enforcement Board – A centralized dashboard designed to oversee and enforce a cohesive set of policies that are currently most important for the CISO to track on a daily basis. This board is an assembly of key metrics from various security domains such as security awareness and endpoint protection. The CISO Policy Enforcement Board plays a crucial role in ensuring that organizational policies are consistently applied, helping to mitigate risks and enhance security posture across the entire enterprise. Coupled with SeeMetrics’ customizations capabilities, each CISO can easily adapt the board on an ongoing basis as their priorities change.
- NIST Functions Dedicated Board – This board corresponds with all of the NIST functions, providing a systematic approach to cybersecurity management. The board serves as an organized platform where relevant information, processes, and metrics are categorized based on the corresponding NIST function. Each board is designed to streamline and guide activities related to that specific function. The NIST Functions Dedicated Board facilitates a comprehensive and structured implementation of cybersecurity measures. By breaking down the NIST functions into a dedicated board, organizations can effectively govern, as NIST CSF 2.0 suggests.
“Introducing the Governance Boards underscores our strong commitment to proactive and strategic cybersecurity governance,” says Shirley Salzman, CEO and Co-Founder of SeeMetrics. “By building these dedicated boards we are providing CISOs with a new kind of automated oversight that previously took too much time and resources to achieve. We are taking on the work of identifying what needs to be measured and the long, tedious process behind it. By automating it we are freeing up the CISO’s time and resources while also giving them a new layer of knowledge.”
About SeeMetrics
SeeMetrics is a Cybersecurity Performance Management (CPM) platform that provides security leaders with continuous real-time oversight of their operations, eliminating the need for manual data collection or input from SMEs or analysts. The automated platform is made up of collections of out-of-the-box metrics to measure different programs. Each collection can be easily and intuitively customized to serve different needs, allowing security leaders to measure the entirety of their security metrics program on an ongoing basis and better manage their operations. Wingman Ventures rebrands as Founderful, gains momentum for $120m Fund II for Swiss tech startups
Fresh brand identity and funds at Founderful signal growth and optimism in the Swiss ecosystem.
Zurich, Switzerland – 13th February 2024: Five years after it launched, venture capital firm Wingman Ventures has today rebranded as Founderful and is announcing it has quickly raised $85m for its new fund, aiming to reach a final close at $120m in the months to come.
The firm was founded in 2019 by Swiss unicorn GetYourGuide co-founder Pascal Mathis, former Switzerland Lead at Creathor Ventures Alex Stöckl, and EAT.ch co-founder Lukas Weder. The team’s driving force has always been helping ambitious Swiss tech startups to become international market leaders. The firm was established with the singular goal of backing local, pre-seed startups in their first financing round with hands-on, founder-focused funding.
Bucking the venture trend of keeping ‘dry powder’ on hand, Founderful has made nearly 50 investments in the last 4 years alone, having made eight Swiss investments in 2023.
From Fund I, Founderful has deployed $60m into 40 startups. This represents 109 founders who scaled to create 1,093 jobs and went on to raise almost 6x additional funding of over $350m in just 3 years, some of which from leading international venture firms. Notably, Wingtra (survey drones) has scaled to 200 employees and an annual revenue of over $20m. DePoly has been recognized globally for its revolutionary plastics recycling technology and raised a $15m seed round, while Corintis (sustainable computing) is working with tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, and Nvidia.
Founderful has already started deploying the capital raised in Fund II, backing the founders of Chiral Nano (alternative silicon chips), Nala Earth (ESG reporting), Ascento (security robotics), SAEKI (manufacturing robotics), Anthropos (workplace skills), Isospec Analytics (biomolecular analysis), Eightinks (lithium-ion batteries) and Faive Robotics (humanoid robotics).
Alex Stöckl, Founding Partner at Founderful, commented: “We’re beyond grateful that we get to continue our work with the most ambitious founder teams of this exciting ecosystem. Founderful works quickly and closely with academia and industry to boost the new generation of technology leaders.
Lukas Weder, Founding Partner at Founderful, commented: “Our fresh identity as Founderful reflects our purpose as a venture capital business to have the deepest understanding of founders and give them the highest level of support. We were once founders ourselves and know what it takes to succeed. We are redefining founder-friendliness beyond just the term sheet through sharing advice, granting insights, and investing courageously. We bring lightheartedness and empathy to serious topics and remain calm in the face of adversity. We try to be the honest companion we would have wanted by our side when we built our own companies.”
The Founderful thesis on investing in Swiss-based startups has been proven by three megatrends:
- For the 13th consecutive year, Switzerland has ranked first in the Global Innovation Index – topping the lists for technology, knowledge, and creative output. It also has the world’s highest patent per capita ratio, and ETH Zurich produces more university spin-outs than any other university worldwide.
- Big tech is fascinated by Switzerland, which is why Google has 5,000 developers there (its largest tech office outside the US). Disney, Nvidia, Meta, Huawei, and Intel have consistently grown their local R&D teams over the past years.
- Switzerland is a Unicorn state – there are more billion-dollar tech startups per capita in Switzerland than anywhere else in Europe. Recent unicorn graduates like Scandit (logistics software), Climeworks (carbon capturing), and SonarSource (code security), and bootstrapped under-the-radar success stories like Proton (internet privacy) underline Switzerland’s rising global relevance for B2B technologies.
Yoram Wijngaarde, CEO and founder of Dealroom, added: “When looking at our data, Switzerland has been on the rise as one of Europe’s fastest growing VC ecosystems over the past five years, and in 2023 becoming the fifth largest venture market on the continent only behind powerhouses UK, Germany, France and Sweden. When you look at nine tech unicorns on 9 million inhabitants, it becomes apparent that this is a market you cannot miss in your coverage as a European fund or limited partner.”

Parallel Wireless Announces Automated GreenRAN™ xApps, Delivering Energy Savings in Real-Time
Software-driven Layer Switch-off and MIMO Channel Shutdown results in better power management and capacity without impacting user experience. Built upon GreenRAN™ xApps, operators can fine-tune network activity based on demands.
Nashua, NH, February 06, 2024 – Parallel Wireless, the leading provider of Open RAN platform-agnostic solutions, has announced the availability of its O-RAN compliant GreenRAN™ xApps Suite, powered by the Near Realtime RIC (Radio Intelligence Controller) Platform. Applied as an intelligence layer across the network, the MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) Channel Shutdown and the Layer Switch-off xApps are designed to optimize the network cluster power efficiency while maintaining QoE (Quality of Experience) in both uplink and downlink, operating seamlessly in urban and suburban areas.
While the RAN industry has utilized energy-saving techniques for some time, it remains very challenging to conserve power as user demands fluctuate. Traditionally, sites are allocated with bandwidth based on expected usage patterns. While this traditional approach reduces resource during low demand, it fails to respond in real-time, often resulting in inefficient power savings and poor user experience. To address this, Parallel Wireless deploys GreenRAN™ xApps connected over E2 interface to all sites, formalizing a cluster view, and allowing each site to respond to true demand in near real-time by managing users between cell and sites within the cluster, while maximizing user experience and the layer shutdown. In addition, the xApps optimize the user MIMO configuration between MIMO 4×4 to MIMO 2×2 while maintaining UE (User Equipment) channel quality. The shutdowns are performed in near real-time with the ability to respond to frequent network behavior changes. The result is substantial energy savings compared to traditional solutions.
“Parallel Wireless’ xApps, part of our GreenRAN™ solution suite, adjust the power demand at the cluster level by utilizing fewer resources across the network, without compromising signal quality,” said Steve Papa, Founder and CEO of Parallel Wireless. “Along with our other energy-efficient GreenRAN™ solutions, our xApps were developed with our customers’ challenges in mind, to help them reduce TCO (Total-Cost-of-Ownership) and support them in their journey to Net Zero”. The ability to deploy multiple xApps allows carriers to drive efficiency beyond power demand. The Parallel Wireless MIMO Channel Shutdown xApp improves channels’ usage while reducing antenna use. This constrains the number of Downlink MIMO layers and reduces related costs by an estimated 35% at the cluster-level.
“Our GreenRAN™ xApps utilize low-latency Open RAN technology, allowing operators to focus on specific clusters and enable optimization at the individual handset level,” said Baruch Navon, President and COO of Parallel Wireless. “By leveraging Open RAN capabilities, we can identify the needs of individual handsets and lower resources, such as moving from MIMO 4×4 to 2×2 without impacting user’s experience.” This is critical in today’s networks where coverage is widespread, but signal quality and bandwidth remain inconsistent due to energy resource challenges.
About Parallel Wireless
GreenRAN™ from Parallel Wireless is expanding the ecosystem for Open RAN with energy-efficient cross-platform technology. Deployed worldwide, our comprehensive platform independent 2G/3G/4G/5G Macro RAN solutions enhance network energy security while reducing operating expenses. As a leading Open RAN pioneer, we prioritize innovation and technology flexibility, making our commitment to open networks unwavering. Vade Enhances Spear-Phishing Detection Using Generative AI for Next-Generation Threats
Vade, a global leader in AI-powered threat detection and response with more than 1.4 billion protected mailboxes worldwide, today announced that it has pioneered a new method that improves the confidence of its spear-phishing detection engine. The enhancement, designed to combat advanced threats including those produced by generative AI, leverages threat samples created by artificial technology and human sources.
The new method trains Vade’s spear-phishing algorithms on a unique combination of traditional and artificially generated spear-phishing emails. Vade has confirmed that the enhancement increases the confidence of detection across seven spear phishing classifiers, or categories. These range from scams involving W2 fraud, payroll fraud, banking fraud, and more. In the US, W2 fraud accounts for the largest improvement, seeing a 50% increase in confidence, followed by banking fraud at 30%. W2 fraud, which surges during the US tax season, occurs when attackers attempt to fraudulently obtain employee W2s. Vade is implementing the enhancement just as W2 fraud volumes have increased by more than 130% between December and January.
Spear phishing is the costliest cyberthreat for businesses and consumers worldwide. According to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), reported losses globally from spear-phishing attacks amounted to $2.7 billion (USD) in 2022. That figure is expected to increase significantly in the coming years, especially with the emergence of generative AI tools that aid in content creation.
“We are entering a period of unprecedented transformation in cybersecurity,” said Adrien Gendre, Chief Technology and Product Officer at Vade. “Generative AI is becoming a gamechanger. It gives hackers new capabilities to deploy advanced attacks at scale and security vendors the opportunity to keep pace. As a leader in cybersecurity, we have long recognized the need to embrace generative AI as a force for good. And we are. We’re fighting fire with fire.”
Historically, spear phishing emails commonly contained characteristics that made them easier to detect as fraudulent, such as spelling and grammatical errors. Generative AI platforms can eliminate these factors, producing error-free text in any language. This enables foreign attackers to localize spear phishing emails and increase the appearance of legitimacy.
Since generative AI’s growth in popularity, Vade researchers have observed a significant increase in the quality of observed threats. And while generative AI creators have instituted safety controls to prevent misuse of their platforms, Vade analysts have conducted internal tests that demonstrate the ability to circumvent these measures.
Vade is implementing the enhancement for its email security suite, Vade for M365. Once complete, organizations will immediately see the benefits of the update.
