Elevate Quantum Kickoff Celebrates EDA TechHub Designation and Community Diversity, Eyes Successful Phase 2 Application

This prestigious designation is a testament to the collective efforts and diverse community engagement across Colorado, New Mexico, and the broader Mountain West region in advancing quantum technology.

The event will honor the consortium’s achievement, driven by its diverse community encompassing the state, workforce development organizations, nonprofits, private enterprises, and venture capital firms. Colorado Governor Jared Polis will grace the occasion with his remarks, emphasizing the state’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancements in the quantum sector. Dr. Colleen Simpson, President of Front Range Community College, will also speak. Dr. Simpson will share her perspective leading Colorado’s largest community college on how to engage and train a diverse workforce to thrive in this century of Quantum.

Elevate Quantum’s designation as an EDA TechHub highlights the Mountain West region’s position on the global stage, acknowledging its dynamic quantum ecosystem. The consortium was selected among 31 organizations from a pool of 378 applicants, under the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, aimed at fueling investments in pivotal technologies crucial to the U.S. economic and national security.

The kickoff will also spotlight the consortium’s strategic approach towards a successful Phase 2 application, which could unlock up to $75 million in federal resources for the region, fostering a thriving environment for quantum research, development, and commercialization. With full congressional funding of the TechHub program, the region stands to gain up to $1 billion in additional federal funding over the next decade.

The event promises engaging dialogues with a diverse array of stakeholders within the Elevate Quantum consortium. Representatives from the state, workforce development organizations, nonprofits, private sector companies, and venture capital firms will share insights on the journey thus far and outline the roadmap for harnessing the potential of quantum technology to propel economic growth and technological innovation in the region. “The New Mexico Economic Development Department is grateful to be part of this exciting designation,” said NMEDD Acting Secretary Jon Clark.
