Policy Insights: Congress re-introduces the Cyber Shield Act

Congress re-introduced the Cyber Shield Act, which calls for a voluntary cybersecurity certification program for IoT devices.

Policy Insight:

Axiad COO Jerome Becquart commented, “With the exponential increase of connected devices, developing cybersecurity standards for IoT devices is a critical step for enterprise IoT. Many businesses focus on user security and do a great job at authenticating the users on their network, but often struggle to authenticate the vast number of devices and systems they use. PKI based solutions for managing these machine identities exist today, enabling IT teams to issue certificates for each of their IoT devices so they know exactly what is on their network. However, these solutions do face challenges to integrate with every devices type in the enterprise ecosystem. Standardization like the Cyber Shield Act will help address that problem.”
