Biden Order To Require New Cybersecurity Standards In Response To SolarWinds Attack
Six months after one of the largest cyberattacks in history, the White House will set up formal cyber investigations, require companies to report breaches and set software development standards.
According to Christopher Fielder, Director of Product Marketing at Arctic Wolf, “The forthcoming executive order from the Biden administration is an important first step in establishing an effective baseline of standards in the security industry. In the midst of a sophisticated and evolving threat environment and a sector that’s still reeling from the SolarWinds attacks, the stakes are impossibly high for local, state, and federal governments—and the security companies doing business with those entities. We applaud the Administration’s calls for more systematic investigations and collaboration around cyber events and for setting further standards to keep American data secure.” Fielder has over 20 years of cybersecurity expertise working for organizations like the U.S. Air Force and the CIA.
